How do the ball joints mount on these? Are the fabtech ones the same as the springtech? Which ball joints do I need to look into getting?

they mount with 4 bolts to the control arm that come with the balljoints when theyre replaced. they actually use chevy ball joints for them. but they should come with ball joints and that springtech ones are doetsch according to 1clean42 who ordered a set but sold them after buying his lightning motor

Oh okay. So each one is ball joint specific. I'm surprised you got rid of them incase you go bigger in the future. Hopefully I can get a set soon. I have a really bad squeak whenever I turn and I think my ball joints are causing it. My boots are just falling apart. How many pumps on a grease gun should you hit these things with?

I really wanted to keep them but I had the spings they went with and without those 2 all I had to sell was the blocks and spindles really and i needed the cash. I even had brand new balljoints also for them

I'm gonna get some doetsch ones in the future for sure

I asked for a quote from them and I got a response in 24 hours. Upper controls arms straight from them are 377+ shipping. I think they have a package that you can order on there for the springs and uppers. I just talked to them within a few days through email if that helps.

I wonder what the difference is quality wise between them and the springtechs? The sprintechs are $379 for the coils and control arms.

Honestly, probably not a whole lot. The spindles you have are springtech and since I've got my fabtech lift, I can't really tell a difference in quality. I'd run them. Anything is better than these stock POS uppers I have.

Yeah i figured the springtechs with a set of moog ball joints in them would be decent. And you ain't lying about the stock uppers. I replaced them only a year ago and have only done very very slight offroading and both of them are shot. Pizzaman sent me a pic of his springtech uppers a few weeks ago and i must say they do look pretty stout compared to the stock ones.

Yeah mine are like a year old too and they are squeaking like hell. The boots are ripped on them too but that's partially my fault but I didn't think they would fall apart this fast.

My stocks lasted 140K. just over 20k on these and they are done! If the ball joints were removable it wouldn't be so bad $30 vs. the $150 for the assembly. Just another reason i want aftermarket.

I have some pictures of some fab'd boxed uppers with a uniball that I will be running on my truck (how do I post them if they are not on one of the photo sharing sites?)...family friend built a few sets for friends, Im going to change a few things and build my own set for way less than the cost of fabtech's or doetsch and that's with hiems and a uniball so its completely adjustable, and WAY stronger! He said it tightened up the front suspension on those other trucks a ton! Im planning on running a slightly bigger coil spacer and small flared fiberglass fenders and it should clear 37's without being too tall.

mxr181 - That sounds sweet. Be sure to post lots of pics. What fenders are you looking at? And you can put them in an album on this website and post them using the IMG code or just get an account on like photobucket and do it that way too
