4-wheel drive not engaging

Hi, I have a 1998 Ford F150 that will not lock into 4-wheel drive. The light on the dash comes on and that's it. Anyone have the same problem? Thanks

Where is that located? Is it hard to replace?

located on your front axle, not teribly hard to replace with simple mechanical skills, when looking at the front axle its located behind the plastic cover and held in place by a c clip. I would recomend moving the lever the vaccum is attached to all the way to the left with a peice of string putting the truck in 4wd and seeing if it works. if it does then its the vaccum. if it doesnt.. take it to a mechanic its a bitch to fix and be ready for a hefty repair bill the part alone costs over $200, its the fork in the axle tube it was a bitch to replace...
