So this morning i finished up with the passenger side...gotta say, that back one was by far the hardest to get at! I torqued them all up...if anything maybe a hair more than Hayne's said (likely between 12-16lb ft).

Here's a pic of the driver side plugs and coils:

And here's the passenger side ones:

http://picasaweb.google.com/dr.coghl...25778882653058

And finally, here's a shot of that hose i buggered up (DPFE confirmation?). You can see the rip right near the free end, about an inch down:

So we'll see how long the COPs take to come in (thanks for the link jbrew) - holiday weekend will slow it down.

I think when i finally get everything bolted back on, it will make a nice difference, and now that i've done it once...i'm definitely confident i could do it again in a LOT less time! Thanks to Red02FX4 and jbrew for the invaluable help!

Some of those plugs look like they have been there forever.

Nowhere NEAR enough - you need 28 ft/lb DRY (NO antiseize) or you are risking loosening and thread blowout. None of the manuals are correct.

Phew - thanks glc! I kinda thought that didn't seem enough...and that estimate was likely pretty low! I'm going to retorque to 28 today (and yes, i didn't use antiseize).

Random question regarding the injectors though: some of them look really rusty around below the orange part - will that effect them in any way, or is it no biggy?

Also i need to clean around the areas...too much stuff gets gunked up around there!

So is that the consensus when you replace the plugs: No Anti_seize and 28ft/lbs torque. Just getting ready to do this and have seen differing opinions on the anti-seize.

Thanks.

Not recommended, -not for use with 4 thread plug chambers.

These plugs never have a problem coming out, - keeping them in is another story.

Ford doesn't recommend or use it period with these models.

You may have adverse effects in doing so.

There is absolutely NO REASON to use it here.

Is that enough ?

Great thread guys! I just ordered the COPs in the eBay link jbrew posted and I'm going to pick up some new plugs from Ford later in the week.

I was heading back from the NMRA finals race in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Sunday night (7.5 hour drive back to Chicago) and my truck developed a miss! I was north of Indianapolis with about 100 miles left in my trip. Truck was fully loaded, car on the trailer, 4wheeler in the bed, tools, and enough stuff for two guys to camp at the track for four days. I had to lock out o/d in order to maintain speed. By the time I got off the highway, the truck was really struggling to get up to 50mph. Service engine soon light was on and I just limped it home. Pulled the codes in the morning with my SCT xcal2 I use for my mustang. P0301 (misfire on #1) and P0316 (misfire detected on startup). Lucky for me, #1 is the most accesible and my buddy had a few new coils laying around he was going to use on his Crown Victoria. So I swapped the coil and I'm back in business until I do the full tune up.

I ordered the COPs from the link posted and received them yesterday. No where on any of the coils does it say 'GAMMA USA.' No writing on them at all except some part number. My buddy ordered a set too and his look exactly the same as mine.

Nah, I'll give them a whirl. At least I will have two extra if any of them poop out early.

Oh, you ordered the 10 pack. Good deal. If ANY go bad, let everyone know.

Your probably the first one that's listened to me about what to order when purchasing Coils. You have the good ones.

Yep, ordered the 10 pack from the eBay link you posted in this thread. I was doing my homework, saw the thread, and pulled the trigger. My buddy who ordered them has a V10 truck, so it was perfect for him. I don't mind having a few spares, the price difference was pretty small anyway.

I'll let you guys know if I have any trouble with the coils from the 10 pack.

Thanks!

C'mon jbrew...you know i listened to you . And yeah, i ordered the 10 set as well from Global, and no they didn't have the writing on them - so yeah fired the writing lady.

Actually one of my 10's electrical connection wouldn't click in, so i couldn't use it. Good thing there was 10. Still have one extra.

Only beef with Global was the shipping - something got screwed up (never did get a straight answer), and customs shipped them back. Which resulted in TWICE the anticipated shipping time :S. Oh well.
