Good buy?

Ok guys I got some more info on my fathers truck I am thinking about buying. He passed away last week.He lived 100 miles from me So I wasn't sure what all the truck had on it.
I found out it is a 1998 ford f150 lariat extended cab with the third door.It is red and has leather interior. It is a 4x4 and has a 5.4 with automatic trany.power seat and 6 disk cd.power mirrors.power locks and windows.short wide bed.Has the towing package with transmission cooler.Key less entry. He bought it new and the truck only has 31,004 miles on it.no rust or dents.I did a car fax on it and only things on it was where every six months he took it to ford and had the oil changed. Some times it only had 100 miles but he still had the oil changed. My step mom said she would sell it to me for $8,000. I have a 2001 now and not sure if I will be happy going back down to a 98.But mine has 101,000 miles on it.
What do you guys think? Is that a very good buy?

That is a fairly good deal, Then you know that the truck was in good hands and was treated well. I say buy the truck and put your 01 front clip on it.

I'd suggest running the specs thru Kelly Blue Book first. For my zip code, it came up with that truck and mileage in good condition at $6750.00. I can't imagine a 12 year old truck being worth that much regardless of mileage. Around here, even the $6750. probably wouldn't bring any buyers. Yer area may be different.

If it were here in Delaware with that kind of history... $8000 is probably low. I say go for it.... and carry on the tradition of caring for it

For the miles on it, and the fact you know how it was taken care of I'd take it.

I'm not sure what they are taking about. I like the 98 4x4 XLT SC Offroad package front clips. I guess maybe it's a personal preference thing.

Yep, it's about what you like. I bought my 98' new when the 99's had been out a while because I liked the small grill... didn't save me any $ either.

yeah I did a 98 to 99 swap as well. the 99s had "sportier" looks for what i was going for:

sometimes i miss the plain-jane look of my 98 front end

Those are a couple good lookin 98 fords on the last few posts. Where does a person get a set of those headlights like on your 98 fords?I like them better than the stock ones.
