my center console swap

Yea, had the rear dvd player in mind. No funds for that just yet, but is in the plans!! Thanks!
Both seats installed today! I had to get some cheap (ugly) seat covers for now. The leather is too nasty to leave out in sight, but haven't ordered any made to fit covers yet. Was glad that the power seat works just fine. Have to relocate my 4 channel amp now. The motors for the seat and the amp fought for the same space, and the seat won. Guess the amp goes under the rear seat now. I guess the tinkering never ends!

turning out really nice.
i did the narrow in mine since my truck has the buckets with the armrests. i had a widetop in my truck, but thencouldnt use the armrest. it was easier & cheaper for my to find a narrow console at the junkyard than it was to find new seats.

Great mod! I was at junkyard last week for hours playing around and seen the consoles but wasn't sure if they would fit or work in truck! So from reading this thread I have arm rests on seats now so I need the narrow console or if I get wide console out of a expy I also need to get the seats? Is the narrow one the same width as stock? I love doing mods like this it sets us apart from other people! My Wife dosn't under stand this!! Well back to junkyard!

In my 01 Screw i have the bucket seats with the arm rests and i put the narrow one in mine awhile back.
i didnt havre to do any cutting of the varpet or anything. the only bracket i needed was the back bracket. you put it in and the front is just two scews sticking up and the console sits on it just fine. works great. it pretty much just apply one bracket and start turning sockets.

OK, had to tinker a few more things here. I decided to mount 12 volt power points for my kids' games, place for portable dvd player, etc...
I decided to use the original rear stereo control frame as a template, along with the opening of the rear of the console. I cut out unecessary plastic from the plate.
I marked where I wanted to drill holes for the power point housings. I should have used a 1 -1/8" spade bit. I used a 1" spade bit, and had to do some reaming to get the housings in. Then I wrapped the vinyl around after some sanding to smooth the edges. It fits very tight in the mounting tabs, and the power points fit really tight with the extra material from the vinyl assisting to hold them in place. I'm happy with how they turned out.
The holes may be slightly asymmetric, but it's close enough for me!!

you can use the narrow console, the wide top just kinda "fills" up the space better. there were some lightning guys that had the narrow top when they did this modification. just use the narrow & swap out if you ever find a widetop for a good price.
i used the expy brackets when i put mine in my lightning. and i think (been so long) i used just the front bracket in my scab.

I took the cheap, butt ugly seat covers off. Here are the seats I bought uncovered. They may not look too bad in pics, but I want them to look better in person.
I need to go a shade or two darker with the next seat covers or re-skinned seats.
The flash from the camera makes the difference of color look greater than in person. yea, I seem to have a calico looking interior, but dark gray seats will help out immensely with the flow of color.
