why do you have such bad luck with rear ends? there are alot of guys with bigger tires and Lightning chargers that dont have any problems.

maybe its the driver? LOL

Klitch 04-14-2010 01:08 AM

I honestly question the axle itself, I do not know if it is straight, personally I don't think it is. but outside of that, I really don't know, soon as I get brave and step on it, I get to do it about a dozen times then *BANG!* SHTF. maybe its the load behind the truck, and romping on it that does it in? Terry trailers aren't the lightest things from the 80's that I've seen, sure did follow my truck in a hurry

I wouldnt fully weld those perches on just yet, until you know your pinion angle. If you do a shackle flip, it will change greatly (though I dont recommend it with a camper).

BTW, that is a D60

This should be a good build, now order the parts.

minimonster17 04-14-2010 11:05 AM

FWIW, Klitch keeps popping the 8.8 because it is weak. a 9.75 would have held up to his abusive driving. but D60's are even better:D

b2therad 04-14-2010 12:05 PM

^ arent the D60s the front axles? I thought the sterlings were the ones for the rear? Like the 10.25 or something like that.

4.2trimble 04-14-2010 12:29 PM

Yes 10.25 and 10.5 are fords rearends 3/4 -1 ton. Dodge uses/used d60 and d70 rear axles. The sterling axles I believe are stronger. The strongest of the 3/4-1tons imo is the gm corporate 14 bolt and from what I've heard they are easier to set gears in.

Hey Klitch, there is a guy locally selling some doors that are the same scheme as your truck. Shipping would probably be a female dog, but just letting you know.

Can't wait to the the SAS done. Gonna be BA.

b2therad 04-14-2010 01:00 PM

I hate it when shipping is a female dog.
