2000 F150 Heritage

What is the Heritage? i've googled it, and searched here - All I found out is that the 2004 Heritage is actually a re-issue of the 2003 F150, but that's all - i haven't been able to find out what the 2000 F150 Heritage is...

i've been researching my door sticker and vin, and discovered that what i thought was (and is badged as) a 2000 F150 XLT is actually a Heritage... but what does that mean?

thanks for your time, guys

joe

A heritage F150 was a 2004 truck made in 1997-2003 styling instead of the new styling. This was done basically because Ford had a bunch of leftover frames from the 2003 run that they didn't want to go to waste, so they kept making them into 2004 and just badged them "heritage."

If you have a 2000 then you don't have a heritage. I'm not sure where you saw that, but I have a 2000 XLT as well, and I've never seen or heard of one with heritage badging.

The 50th anniversary were the 1998 trucks. The only 50th anniversary editions made were 3000 NASCAR edition F150's, in all black with NASCAR decals.

Actually, Ford converted their two F150 manufacturing plants one at a time back on 03 and 04.

The first plant made the 04 NBS when it came back on line. Meanwhile, the other plant had continued cranking out 03 Leftovers, er..., "Heritage" models until it could be converted over. Market demand for F150s at that time was too great to take both plants down at the same time for changeover.

There was a limited production option in 03 called "Heritage Edition". I think it was just a trim package.

Joe, it sounds to me like wherever you are looking this stuff up is calling the whole 1997-2003 generation "Heritage".

If you have a "2004" F-150 OBS its a Heritage edition. Its just like a 2007 Silverado that is OBS, I believe Chevy calls it "Classic" they did it with Malibus too.

The author of that article apparently inserted the word "Heritage" on his own since Ford's service manuals never used it in the VIN definitions.

The "Heritage" description ONLY applies to 04 "leftovers".

Midly incorrect, the 2004 OBS' were Heritage. The Heritage Edition is this:

two-tone paint, PTM front end, STX headlights, 17" five-spoke, etc.
