wipers only work in neutral?

Ive searched alot and it could be a few different theings. GEM, motor, plug on motor or fuses/relas. Well I checked all of the fuses already, so thats out. If its a relay prob. what relay controls the wipers? The truck is a 2000 4x4 5.4 triton.

Your owner's manual has the location and function of all fuses and relays. If you don't have it, you can download it.

Not the wipers, but my power windows went goofy on me once and quit working ?? Figured it was a fuse, but all were okay. Thought it might be the Gem and could have been. I rebooted the PCM and they worked again. These computers can get a little buggy once in awhile I expect. Might be worth a try.

To reset the pcm all you have to do is undo the battary for like 10secs. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also a Pioneeer cd player was installed recently.

10 minutes might do it. I've heard 5 minutes as well lol.

If that's how I'm going to reboot, I disconnect both sides for at least 20 minutes.

When you reconnect, reconnect the Positive side first. You'll get a good reboot that way.

There's a few other ways, but this one you can just disconnect and come back whenever convenient, -after 20 minutes or so.

You can pull your PCM fuses, - that's suppose to work right away, if you pull all of them.

That may be a clue - incorrect wiring!

Ill get to why I quoted what this guy said, I had a feeling that the radio might be it.

Ok did the 20 min reboot. Went and cranked the truck up this morning and put it into drive and the wipers work, well what I didnt realize is that the radio was powered off. I turned it on was going down the drive way and decided to double check the wipers and they wouldnt work. Proceeded to drive to school (it wasnt raining by the way) got to school and was like hey lets see if its the radio pulling too much juice for the wipers to work. Turned it off, put the truck into gear, turned the wipers on and walla they worked.

So the radio was messing with the wipers. I figured all I need to do is hook up an amp and it should be able to work just fine while the wipers are working.

It's more likely they tapped the power for the radio off the wrong place.

Yep, there's "cut off" type relays that reset/ work like a switch to protected overload. My guess is you reset the relay after reboot. Come to think of it, when my windows quit working, - I was rewiring my stereo and amp, upgraded the wire. Pretty sure I was, maybe not ? That was quite awhile ago lol. But, I never rewired again and it only happened once.

From your description, I think glc is right.

You ever been in a vehicle and smell plastic burning for about a minute and then it goes away lol.
