Sputtering issue?
I have a 2002 f150 with the 5.4 and it just recently started sputtering like it is missing on one of the cylinders. the spark plugs are not that old and there is no check engine light or code. I am thinking it is one of the coils but how do i figure out which one. I did recently spray out under the hood but i just used a garden hose briefly. could a coil get messed up that easily?
Yea, that's not a very good thing to do,- to your motor I'm afraid. Your not alone, many have done the same thing. Only one thing you can do that's cost effective. Blow out the plug chambers and hand dry everything, - your coils, connectors and wiring.
Put it back together and if the miss is still present, jump on ebay and purchase a set of 8 new coils. Sets go for about $76 + shipping.
And don't do that again lol.
Good Luck.

Hopefully, I think you have a 50/50 chance, if that. Usually that kind of trauma causes your windings to shear. If you shear one to many wires, you get a low grade misfire.
