lol haha ohh that made me laugh quite a bit...

I dunno man like they said fix it, if i had a manifold leak i would just go with headers......i have the 4.6 and have been looking into them and found these

http://www.andysautosport.com/ford/1...s00088032.html

other users have them on their 4.6's and 5.4s.........

unless your going to spend 5-700+ bucks on longtubes and another 2-350 to have your y pipe cut and re welded to fit them, just replace the one manifold and bolts....shorty headers aren't worth the money.

It costs $290 for LT's. High flows will cost you nothing. Your old cats are worth $200 at a salvage yard, so high flows wash, you can come out ahead with that swap. New High flows are only around $160 and Troyer sells a set that slip fits LT's. If your currant system is rusted badley around the EGR port, you'll have to order the factory EGR adapter from Ford or you can get that from a salvage yard, -like I did.

You'll need O2's with the correct harness. Oriely's/Murray's sells Bosch factory O2's with a 14" harness. You could also purchase extensions, but they can be more of a problem then their worth.

It was cheaper for me to go long tubes than fix with OEM parts. Not sure in your case. You'll have to evaluate that yourself. Look to the exhaust forum on this site for useful info pertaining to your inquiry.

And post your engine size

I did headers last summer and wish I never did since I have been fighting an exhaust leak ever since. What I have been told is headers pull away from the heads so you have to tighten them constantly (and that was by guys who install them for a living)

Im guessing they are not smog legal if they have no cats. Do they make the comp throw codes?

I had shorties on the old truck, I was disappointed other than the sound. Too much of a PITA!

I put pace setter shortys on my 2000 5.4l when i blew a head gasket. Because my manifolds looked TERRIBLE, and those headers were cheaper than manifolds. I battled an exhaust leak for about a month maybe but just keep tightening and it will go away. My truck runs lean now so im getting a custom tune as we speak from gryphon, BUT i also have higher compression due to shaving my heads .0015 and a CAI so you may not have that problem with shorty headers. Dont really feel a power change but def sounds better.

That's why most go with PS longtubes. Same price but you get a 20/25 gain in numbers from just bolting on. You can tune to 30/35 Hp/Trq. You spend a little more for OBX, -their nicer looking. Either or, you need to run High Flows to be smog compliant.

Yes, they need re-torqing, from the center out, three or four times following install until seated.

jbrew here in Maryland you cant run long tubes. cant run an h-hipe, cant run true dual, straight pipes any of that. Maryland sucks, actually its not even The entire state just some of most of counties. 20 miles away in a different county you ca do whatever you want. SUCKS
