Keys in my ignition

So several hours ago i was working on my truck('02 f150) because I have a leak in the windshield that drips onto my ignition system... So sometimes all my electronics don't work when the truck is running. So I decided to pull out my ignition switch. As you prolly know this involves unhooking the battery and putting the key in the ignitioin and turning it to run. So I get the ignition out of my truck and it is alittle wet like I expected. Any ways out of habit I lock my door when I am leaving my truck and I forgot my keys in the ignition when i closed the door. So now i have a locked truck with no batttery or ignition so I can't get into my normal way of pushing the button with a clothes hanger. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me a way to get into my truck with out breaking my window out or calling the dealer which won't be open till monday anyways.

Cheapest way, call a locksmith. Most have around the clock emergency service.

Yea, the coat hanger/slim jim days are over lol. Some of the newest vehicles can done signal over actuator, but not in your case.

Another fairly cheap solution is to break the rear sliding windows plastic latch, that's only if it's plastic.

Personally, I keep a spare key in my wallet. That's come in handy more than once lol.

So I went out this morning and I decided that I would simply pop my hood and hook my battery up so i would have power to the locks. I knew there had to be a way to do it from the outside. To my luck I easily find the cord to the primary lach. I follow it up and find the latch and push it with a coat hanger I had brought with me. The hood pops up... I hook my battery up then straighten out the hanger. Go to my drivers door and about to weave the hanger in when I look at the lock again. Turns out the door wasn't locked even though I was sure I pushed it down as I closed the door.

Anyways as for the ignition thing, I let it dry in the house and reinstalled it this morning. Now that its dry I had no problems. Next goal to fix the leak in my windshield!

I was reading last night that they say it's a pretty dumb thing to do, - lock your keys in your car.

I think you just beat it. To say you. had , but didn't. Smooth move.

On my 97 whenever the battery is hooked up or unhooked; however you look at it, the doors will activate. You probably did have them locked and hooking upthe battery opened the door.

Wait! The door didn't lock with the battery disconnected ? Or it did, but when you reconnected the battery , it went back to the state it was in before you disconnected ?

If so, that was lucky. I didn't know they did that.
