overhead console

I am going to put an overhead console in my truck and I bought one from an expidition eddy bauer edition and I forgot the harness so I am going to go back for it can anyone give me tips as to how much of the harness I need or how to remove the whole thing so I can use the MPG part the compass, gallons remaining, and other features, so I guess I really want to know do I need the whole harness from begging to end or can I just cut it about 3 or 4 feet down the line??

from a SCrew I pulled from, the wire runs from the overhead, to the dome light, 3rd brakelight, down the pax c-pillar and from there on i dunno

Edited to add: if you are planning on putting that in your 97, i dont think its going to work. A.) you needs PATS to run it, B.) you'd need the thermo probe behind the grille
