That looks great. You've done a lot of nice work on that truck. Are you considering PTM that upper piece on the bumper?

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure about painting the caps, but once done, I like the way it looks. We'll see how it holds up when I scrape through the brush this summer ...

My truck has become somewhat of a hobby for me. Thanks to the internet (this site and ebay especially) I've been able to do quite a bit to it for very little money.

I considered painting the bumper pad, but it ties in w/ the black fender flares, so if I paint the pad, I have to paint the flares. I like the contrast of the black flares, so no paint on the bumper pad (for now at least ...)

Really a nice looking truck. The painted pad, valance and flares will really set it apart. Very well done

Looks good! I was thinking about doing the same once I read the title of the thread, then forgot that my truck already came like that. Stupid me.

You know, I look at my truck (XL w/ upgraded seats, stereo, grill, mirrors, wheels, etc) and wonder if I would have been better off getting a better model and removing the stuff I didn't want (carpet, all electrical accessories) LOL

Oh well, it's been fun!

I was actually thinking the opposite. I looked at it as, here's a guy that bought a plain ole' XL F-150 and basically transformed it into a custom XLT for very little cost, just some of his own time.

And good point about the bumper pad, it does tie in the flares nicely.

I agree, think of it as you're customizing it to what you want, not what the dealership wanted.
