Headlight flash when locking...
...i have an 02 screw and have HIDs on the way. The only concern i have is the flash from the headlights when i lock it. anyone know how to reprogram this. i know on the 04+ its a matter of turning the key a number of times but im not sure if its the same for 97-03s. Look in the owners manual and do not see anything.
any suggestions?

I was bored\curious so I searched, and I didn't find an definitive resolution to this. I don't think this is a question that is brought up often, so perhaps you're willing to share the knowledge?
To the OP, I think on my 02' F-150, if I only hit the lock button once, it will lock both doors and not flash the head lights. Maybe give that a try in the mean time?
Your HIDs will be fine. I occasionally lock my doors manually, even though I have a Clifford alarm installed, and the HIDs will just flash like normal, and have still worked since.
Just look for a wiring diagram and cut that wire.

What kind of HID kit do you have? I wouldnt think it would hurt the ballast too much. Im pretty sure my Audi's lights flashed with the alarm and I never had a ballast go bad in 3 years...
I was wrong, when I hit the lock button once it will flash my lights. Twice and it flashed and sounds the horn once. Only information I can find about disabling the light flash is to reference a diagram and cut a wire. I'd rather take my chances with possibly shortening the life of an HID as opposed to cutting wires.
Interesting topic, though. I was curious if there was some trick to disable it. Kind of like the trick where you can see an RPM read out on a digital odometer on our F150's if you don't have a tach.
