Thanks Fairlaner, I just did this in my truck and they work. Now I am just waiting for the HIDs to come so I can use them. When I take the switch apart to change the light in it (trying to go to blue eventually) I plan on doing the mod to make the fogs work in all modes.
Modifying the switch is a nice little mod. I can now use my grill lights as daytime lights on the country roads, as well as providing additional light w/ the high beams at night.

I added a pair of Hella 500 driving lights behind the grille of my '99 a few weeks ago. I had NO IDEA how pitiful the high beams on my truck were until I turned these things on!
I was trying to figure out how I would mount them to the plastic cross-piece in the grille and keep them from vibrating around. I followed some of the advice/methods in this thread (thank you) and had a smooth installation. I would never have thought of mounting them upside-down with the added brace otherwise.
I mounted mine straight through the upper piece, without angle brackets, and this worked out great. I trimmed away the upper plastic a bit to be able to get a socket on the nut. (No pics during install, but the driver-side light needs adjusted down a smidge. Might remember to snap a few then.)
