2000 Ext Cab Rear Windshield Leaking
2000 Ext Cab Rear Windshield Leaking
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can access the seals of the rear windshield on my truck? I thought the gray molding came off and exposed the windshield, but upon further inspection, it appears that the windshield is set inside the molding. I need to repair a leak, if I can find it.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I had the same problem. It made the truck smell and i lifted up my floor liner to find some kind of mold growing under it and drops of water. I just got some clear silicone caulk and found exactly where it was leaking from and lined it. It actually helped! I was surprised. But yeah, the butyl seal around the back windows of these trucks is messed up.
Theres a couple good write ups on here about how to replace the seal yourself

To those of you who replied w/ useful info, thanks. I'll do some digging for the write ups.
To those of you who felt the need to be sarcastic to prove a point, wow. I've never been on here and needed some quick info.

I had to do this repair on my 2000 Ext. Cab. It really isn't the most difficult thing i ever had to do but it is a bit time consuming and slightly messy.
Basically go to the auto parts store and buy a roll of 3/8 inch butyl seal. The entire rear window comes out as a whole assembly. Its held in from the inside around its perimeter by 9 or 10 bolts. You have to remove the gray side plastic panels where the seat belts are mounted, and the rear seat. Then you'll have access to the screws. Just undo them, then have someone outside to catch the window assembly as you push it out slowly. Afterward you just need to scrape off all the old butyl sealant (takes forever) and replace it. The window even has a nice little channel for you to follow with the seal. Then just do the reverse of removal.
Like i said, its just really time consuming. I did this myself a year ago now and it hasn't leaked since. So hope that helps.

search took 4.1 seconds to post this result. not that hard.
Alright, searched (obviously this is an older thread) but seem to come up with 2 answers. My glass noticeably was leaking today also. I saw moisture on the headliner below the d/s coat hook and when I touched the top of the window (pieces of plastic? that you can move, like the track the slider goes on) I guess, anyways, couldn't figure out why it was leaking. Thaught maybe the water was follwing the satallite antenna wire, so, removed the brake light, re routed the wire and the leak is still there. I think it's been doing this for a while, couldn't catch it but suspected it was. It's been suggested the window itself needs replacing, some say the butyl seal around the window? If you look from the outside between the cab and the window outer trim plastic piece, it looks like someone jammed the foam or whatever seal in there and other places it comes right to the edge. How can you tell if it's the window vs just the outer seal that needs re butyling? Pushing and running my finger along the top edge (inside) of the window seems to get the water moving in more like touching a tent from the inside when it's raining makes it leak. Sorry for the hijack but my problem seems the same as the op's.

I get annoyed enough buy my leaking back window, but leaking on my head??? How the heck do you drive with that
