Painted Driveshaft

Finally decided to get rid of the nasty color on my driveshaft. Going to do the whole rear end next.
Before

After

Another angle

Was going to paint over the sticker but it cleaned up more than I expected

That looks really nice. What did you use to paint it? I have thought about doing that to my rear end a number of times.

Looks great!

The only problem with it now is that it makes the rest of the under carriage look worse than it really is

Thanks guys. I used Gloss Black Rust Oleum paint and I really need to get under there and clean the mud off parts and paint that axle and it'll look even better.

what did you clean the rust off with? Just sand it down? and did you shoot primer on it first?

You don't need primer with Rust-Oleum.

I bit the bulet a few years ago and did this to my last truck. knocked all the loose stuff of, side grinder with a wire wheel. Then sprayed the whole frame with flat black. Every spring I would get under there with a couple cans and touch it up.

It was a ton of work but It made me feel a whole bunch better whenever I broke anything under it. Really easy to keep up on after that. Couple hours and litterally a couple dollars every year.

Yeah I sanded it first then went without primer since I'm using Rust-Oleum and I'm gonna do the whole frame but I'm gonna wait till I get a body lift since the frame will be easier to get to.

Once the BL is done it is very easy. I also sprayed the botton of my bed and Cab with Gloss white from dollar general. I dont know about trying with a anything besides a basic color. But it made me feel better, covered up the rust that was starting in a few spots. shade tree frame off restoration i guess.
