This is a great summer project, for little cash. I did my whole truck this summer with spray on truck bed coating. The entire frame, axle, crossmembers, fuel tank skidplate, everything under there.

It made a big difference in the look of my rig, with the white body color and black frame components and moldings, etc. Plus it's easy clean-up, and looks awesome when I use a foaming no-wipe tire foam to clean, and blacken the paint. Not a glossy tire dressing, but more of a flat look.

i assume you too the body off for this? i just had my rockers done and the shop complained it was a pain to tape so i couldnt imagine how much of a pain that would have been to tape off

Umm... I assumed he just used the bedliner/undercoating stuff in spray cans and just taped off what he didn't want sprayed. I did the same thing with 3M rubberized undercoating.

And the shop complained about taping off your rockers? Jesus, I'd hate to see them do a REAL prep job.

didnt think about that.

they did a good tape job but since the liner is a high pressure spray they had to mask off the whole truck. inside the doors, under the truck, and any place not getting sprayed to avoid over spray. the guys at the shop just didnt want to do it but once i talked to the owner and he got his son to agree to do it. it is just a pain to tape off and takes the time they could do about 3-4 truck beds

Same here I wasn't expecting it to be that involved either but it was worth it

I did mine with both a brush and can of liner, and spray cans. I found the cans to be very easy to point-and-shoot the paint with very little overspray, but the brushed on version was easier to get it thicker, so I did both.
But referring back to the original post about painting the drive shaft, I did not use the bed liner paint on it. It was freshly built for me about two months ago since the stocker was too short. It came from the builder painted black, and since the weight on it were also painted with the same paint, I can only assume it was painted after balancing, so I would not worry about the painting.

Your driveshaft was too short after the lift I thought that the shaft wouldn't need to be replaced with a 6" lift

Yes it was about 1.5" too short.I have BDS 5.5" rear lift leafs, and with the stock bumpstop block, the rear is about 7.5" of lift. The front has the torsion bars cranked fully to match the rear lift. I needed a new driveshaft, as well the Bilstein 5100's I had were too short, causing them to fail. Went with longer travel 5150 Bilsteins for the rear, but soon gonna swap the fronts outs, too.

I just painted the sides of my frame, upper and lower control arms, leafs, sway bar, tie rods in black. I had only bought one rattle can and I still plan on painting my rear axel/diff cover and thats all I can think of.
I also painted my rotors(not the part the pads touch) and calipers a dark blue. The blue wont be too noticeable but it will looks better then seeing rust coated calipers behing my black rims. I'm going to paint my diff cover the same blue just to make it stand out abit. It looks soo much better and I can't wait to get some 32's.
