I just bought a remote door opener for my 2000 F-150 XLT. The truck has power door locks and windows. As I tried to program the remote it said I should here a noise after the 8th time from off to on with the ignition switch. I don't here anything. What else could I try?

 

I have programmed a few vehicles that way that took up to 12 cycles of the ignition switch. Keep cycling the key until the doors lock and unlock. I'm guessing an xlt of that year would have keyless entry, but it may not. Do you get a "theft" light on your dash when you turn the key on?
