Things like the fuel pump are made to run, not sit. It is 5 years old, and yes they can go out anytime. Somethings last forever, and others don't

Might just have been a bad one. I've got 43k miles on a 2002 without a problem.

I think I'll stop with any bragging here, as I don't want to jinx myself

About the only thing I can say that has gone bad is the front pads @29k. Everything else was just not the way I liked it.

I'm doing a master cylinder, when the Sun moves behind the trees today.
I can't complain, because it has 198,000 miles on it. But, it does amaze me, that I haven't put a fuel pump on it yet. I attribute that to not using cheap gas stations.

The windshield wipers have quit on this one, I hope it's the electric motor, and not an electrical problem. I'll find that out after while also.

Nice trucks. The biggest complaint on a fuel pump I've seen is it not flowing enough fuel under a modified engine. Put a better pump in and you're good to go.

Thanks. I do love the white one, it has a pearl paint job, the red one is one I put together for my Son.
I wonder what happened to the OP?
I believe the problem with his pump is the lack of use, or just a bad pump. Things work longer when they are used regularly.

If it wasn't for loving the paint that came with my truck I would love to change it. As it is it just needs some ghost flames or silver airbrush high lighting. On the fuel pump did u reset the motion switch and check fuses? If it does run it could just need a fuel system cleaner from sitting where it can collect water.

Uh oh. I didn't know it had a motion switch. I didn't bump anything or stop suddenly, I wouldn't think the switch would trip without that happening.
I may have left myself open to a ripoff.
I did take it to a Ford dealer instead of some local garage, so i'm counting on the dealer being generally the more honest of the two. And I did insist on getting the defective pump when they finish.

You went to the stealership? Shame on you for not reading the owner's manual. With the safety concerns over having an electric fuel pump running after an accident there's a switch that opens the power ckt if it feels enuff of a bump. It assumes a crash but responds to jumping a curb or a pot hole possibly. It's cheaper than putting decelerometers in the circuit. The wires at the pump can corrode and then maybe the ground wire isn't making contact. They could clean that up and charge for a pump R&R. Only thing I trust from them is they have new vehicles and warranty work. After that it's DIY or go to the local trusted garage.

Naaaa....I drove this truck offroad all over the desert, hitting bumps & holes and it never tripped.
Dealer said he was ordering a new pump, so i know i'll have the used one in my hand to investigate.
And i wouldn't trust any local garage in this area - we're too close to Georgia.

Did u ck the fuse? I'm in mich and all repair facilities are required to return defective parts to the owner if requested.
