The Engine Mods that are coming soon!!!

Alright, just wanted to let yall know about the next few mods that will be happening in either june or july, depending on the budget. So here are the mods planned right now...

1. New E3 sparkplugs
2. 9mm MSD wires
3. JBA Cat4ward Headers
4. Edge Evo. Programmer

Does that sound like a pretty good tune up for the ole 150??

Advice is welcome here cuz if others have new or different ideas, speak up!!

why waste time and energy on plugs that will not last????

same question on the worthless shory headers and the MSD wires that will not last as long either????

and why waste $$ on a tuner that can't be custom tuned???

I'm suprised you're thinking about a throttle body spacer

sorry to tell you, but all those mods wont really do you any good.

1. any plugs other than motorcrafts suck

2. you wont see any gains from wires

3. shorty heads do nothing and are a waste of money. get LTs if you want more power

4. get a gryphon or Xcal

1. Then what WOULD be a good deal, because I hear from everybody what I should not get, but never what I should.
2. I didnt say anything about a throttle body spacer?(I know they dont do squat for your intake other than make a cool noise, thats about it)

Ive never even heard of those 2 tuners before, and the reason Im not gonna get something to be custom tuned is because there is no where even near where I live to get that done, plus Im on a budget and normally that could get pretty expensive..

I appreciate the feedback for this, because I know yall are trying to save me some money! Mucho gracias! But can yall recommend some other options to me specifically? Like instead of shortys, what kind of LT's should I get? what tuner works the best without needing a custom tune..that sort of thing would be most helpful! And again, I appreciate the help!!

Alright I'm gonna be completely opposite cause everyone seems to be shooting your idea down and I don't think its all that bad. I have heard that the E3's are pretty good plugs, not as good as motorcraft but not completly crap. The headers won't help with any performance but it gives better exhaust sound in many cases. I never heard you say this was for performance anyway just a tune up right? I have the edge programmer and it has certain things that can be custom made but I love it just on level 2. If your going for performance and want to drop so serious money then you can listen to what you've heard but if all your looking for is a good tune up then I say go with it, its your truck

the gryphon is a custom tuned edge... the Xcal3 is the updated Xcal2 and it can be custom tuned as well

if it were me I'd get the xcal3 from Troyer, PHP or VMP, motorcraft (or denso iridium plugs I ran them but changed them every 25,000)

as far as headers, get on ebay and look at the OBX ones, I know the 5.4 guys love 'em and there's a few 4.6 trucks with 5.4 long tubes (I just don't know which ones are interchangable due to the deck height difference)

the MSD wires are prone to failure and the stockers aren't that much more

Definitely appreciate the support man. And yes, this is just a moderate tune up on a budget...not detailed "gonna drag race it" tune up. And its good to hear more support about the Evo tuner, makes me feel more confident when buying time comes. I think from what I've read then that theres really no difference from getting aftermarket sparkers and wires to just replacing them with new stockers. Is this right?

And tarajerame, I think you've already changed my mind about the header situation, Im really liking those OBX's now. As far as sparkplug wires, any particular brand you recommend? And also, would I be able to set up an Xcal tuner myself without professional help?

im confuzed you say this is buget but yet your will to drop 20-34 bucks a spark plug??
just get motorcrafts.

the wires get motorcraft wires from napa. i dont rember but mine were 100 bucks if i rember right.

as far as the tuner you can get the custom tunes mailed to you. most guys on here have the SCT2 or 3 or the egde.

you can also get pacesetter longtubes i put them on my 4.6L the only thing was the EGR was a diff size. and i had shortys before my longtubes...oh man night and day diff. get the longtubes dont waste your money.

what about an intake? or do you already have one?

Yea, I'm not sure if OBX's will bolt up. I know the Pacesetters will, but you need this adapter -

Their a PITA to find, -A member here found this for me at a salvage yard. There's other variations that work as well, - I've tried many lol. The part I posted above is the correct part.

I've been running Denso fine wires for quite awhile now and like them. Motorcraft doesn't manufacture fine wires for my 5four, but they might for the 4six, not sure. The do for the 5four "M's" and the 4twos.

The 3 that work =

1. Motorcraft
2. DENSO
3. NGK

XCAL #1 - I like the kit VMP offers to tune your own. Actually Auto Zone (believe it or not) has a few modular books that explain VMP's software in detail.
