Lift for the truck

So i want to buy a lift for my 01 supercrew. I want a 3" body lift. How difficult is a body lift to install for the first time?, Should i Pay someone else to install it? Whats a good body lift brand? How do you like your truck with YOUR body lift? (if you have one)

I think most will agree its not as hard as it is time consuming. Expect the better part of a weekend with at least one more helping hand.

Most shops will charge a couple hundred on up for labor so it's up to you whether or not it's worth your time.

I think almost everyone is running a PA BL (Performance Accessories). Ebay is a great place to pick one up for cheaper than some companies.

I honestly wish I would have done it sooner if that tells you anything. With the larger tires (35s) our trucks look real nice lifted. Wandell (who can help with any questions - he's really knowledgeable) has a Screw that you can see pics of lifted - I have pics too but it's obviously a Scab.

Hope that helps

Scab = Supercab

Screw = Supercrew

Common language you'll hear on the forums time and time again

Go with a Performance Accessories body lift. They contain everything you need. Like they said, it's not that hard to install but it is time consuming.

If i want to get a suspension lift in the future, would it be smarter to get the susp lift before the body? Or can you add a sup lift to a body lift?

You can run both together, there are tons of trucks out there running body lifts and suspension lifts. In my opinion if your looking to get the suspension lift in the future just save up for that, im not real fond of body lifts. Thats up to you because there are a lot of guys that run them and love them. So unless your wanting to run a 40 inch tire or something like that id just stick with the suspension lift. You can easily run 37's with a 6 inch fabtech lift.

just a question, why would you want to add a body lift first? suspension is better IMO cuz you actually gain something out of a lift, rather than gettin cheap air.

well, bear in mind that true ground clearance is only increased via mounting on larger tires. a body lift also raises a truck's center of gravity less than a suspension lift, if you think about it.

personally, i would rather run a 6 +3 combo and 37's than stuffing in 37's on 6'' of lift, cranking the torsion bars (or coilovers) up all the way, and deal with cv boots ripping, and ball joints popping. been there, done that.

now, if i had an 04-08 F-150, i would run just an 8'' Rize if i wanted to mount 37's.

fwiw, i am running both a suspension lift and body lift on my truck. is the suspension lift better? hell yeah. frame to ground clearance is increased which picks up everything, your engine, transmission, gas tank, etc; suspension travel is increased, and front track width is usually increased as well, thus accomodating the use of wider tires.

That's what gap guards are for.

Suspension lift cost like obo 1000 dollars. And I'm In high school. But if i saved for 5 months i'd have that money. So i should just get a suspension? Is 6" very high? I dont want to high, just high enough to help in the mud and look nice.

I would get the suspension lift first. After that, you can decide if you really want a body lift too.

Fabtech and RCD make the best lifts for our trucks.
