Nah, - I would inform the tuner and definitely have the towing tune worked into the mix. It comes with the package purchased any-ho. She should tow even better!
So just so I understand you.

Your saying to keep the tranny stock and just have the tuner adjust the parameters?

I am definitely going to get a tow tune.

I had mine tuned with the FT plate, whatever you do do not install teh ft plate with the springs as the directions say...

the 1-2 upshift about broke my neck at part thorttle and at WOT would result in a nasty wheel spin that almost impossible to controll so I changed the accumulator springs around like others on here had done and it's real nice now

If you had a tow tune with your FT plate in would you feel safe towing 5000 lbs?

I don't do it much. Actually I've probabaly never towed over 2000lbs but I want to be able to if I need to.

YES, no problem towing and I'd feel safe with that much, the seperator plate is actually just the pieces to convert your stock Vb to teh Ft one, it makes it shift faster and firmer decreasing slipeage between shifts

Sweet thanks, I'm thinking this will be my first step in getting the truck ready for the supercharger.

Then probabaly fuel pump then headers, then I'll be ready to install the S/C'er

Heck No lol - I was saying just the opposite actually. - Bullet proof it

Talk with your tuner, -you can get a tow tune w/a built trany. - No big deal. - I would go after another trans and build it on the side tho - If I had the funds. That's if the one you have is still in good shape and has been reliable.

As much fun as that trucks going to be, you'll want a good back up handy.

Well it's not a daily driver so hopefully I will be ok for many years to come. hell I've owned it since 2003, it had 9K miles on it when I bought it, and now it's only got 60K on it.

yea a lightning tranny would be a good thing to get hold of. or whatever they stick in the 250s. The 4r100 or whatever it's called.

I can see me wanting to go for more HP after a while too!

swapping to a 4r100 is alot of work and will require an ECM change, transfer case and wiring issues...

talk to Darrin Burch about having him work a 4r75 to drop in place of your 4r70

Yea, I didn't think of that - not being your DD. Doing that much to her , I would have to have another ride. Had an 01 f150 for awhile, but it was a 2wd and I never drove the thing - didn't like it lol. My 98 is a much better truck for some reason lol.

E40D/4R100's are good transmissions. I have 258,000 on mine lol. But yea, you don't need one when you can build the one you have or like Jer said - drop a 75 in their.

More horsepower? Well, after that bug bites yuh, - your addicted. I control that addiction - shock therapy. It works, but I still drool lol.

Well I finally bought the "Factory Tech" C-plate.

I plan on installing it in the next week or so.

So terajerame, I doubt I'll have a wheel spin problem with my 38's on. You still think I should leave the supplied springs out?

I"m kind of leaning towards putting it together as the directions say and if it's too extreme I can redo it.

But if you guy's give me a resounding "don't do it" then I'll realize that I will be just wasting my time.

No additional advice on this?

Iv never had one and the only thing Iv heard is you must have your tranys stock setting set with your tuner. The shift firmness anyway. You should be able to adjust the shift points.
But I would put the trany settings all back to stock and go from there after you feel how the plate kit works.

efuehrin, try it like the direction say, you can always change the spring order later if it's shifting too harsh

it's what I did anyway
