Intake tube problems '98 f150
For some reason my k&n intake tube falls off the TB after an off road expedition into the desert or just normal driving on the road, it seems to be happening more often now last time it happened was Tuesday. I'm worried that particles will work their into the engine and blow it sooner than I hoped for. 142K miles I hope for 250K before it pops its pistons.
I had something similar happen in the earlier part of '08 when the MAF sensor housing fell off the tube and made the truck stall.
Again on the way to Colorado back in September '08 and caused the truck to barely run that time the MAF sensor housing worked its way out, tripped the CEL and ran like crap for the next 250 miles until I got the NM/Colorado border to the Checker Auto parts store. The CEL was determined to be bad gas not the intake problem.
I've had the k&n for over 9 years.

I would say the plastic is deteriorating from the environment of heat and time. Contact K&N and maybe they will give you a new one. Let us know what they say and remind them you do talk on forums.
K&N Customer Service stands behind their products, even after 9 years. They are shipping out a New Hose for the T-Body to intake tube. (800) 858-3333. Coolness
Naw I have all the clamps.
Naw I have all the clamps.
Come to find out the replacement part they sent me is made from something other than fiber re-enforced hose-a flexible joint rather that the old hard joint. I'm pleased, I'll buy a few more K&N things as my projects get done. Dont have pics right now but i can get some and add 'em.

Looks good, although stainless steel would be nicer.. What flowmaster series you running, does it sound good, feel any power...? Sorry for so many questions just wanted to ask before I do it.
also why don't you use K&n air filter.. lol...

SS might be but no one will ever see them. I don't remember what series but will update sig w/ it when I find out, it does sound good, low rumble, can hear self think when cruising.
K&N filter was 2x larger than the AEM and thus rubbed a hole in the side of hte filter, I did everything I could to try to remount the filter tube but nothing worked, I gave up and bought a dry flow instead, haven't looked back, always hated using oil on my filter because it collected on the inside of the tube and covered up my airflow sensor causing a CEL.
The net has caused connection problems, found out after a week that my satellite connection was causing the issue. this prevented me from being online for more than 2 minutes, having to type my posts on a MS word document and then hurry up and make a post on here before being disconnected. I was pissed after I found out that the dish caused this
