97 up intake question???

Howdy folks,

I just had my 98' Mustang Gt intake explode on me and was wondering if the 97' up F-150 (4.6) has the same intake manifold; full plastic-no aluminum crossover. Or which one has the re-inforced aluminum crossover? I'm about to go "beater" hunting and don't want to run into this problem again.

Thanks...

5.4 intake wont fit. You also cannot use an intake off of anything with the PI heads. You could use a truck intake manifold but it is taller, I don't know about about clearance issues with that. The taller manifold is better in the low end and the shorter manifold is better for the high end. i don't know about the quality of the manifolds. You rarely hear about an intake manifold exploding, was a really hard back fire? I would suggest a PI head swap with the intake mani at the same time, you would see some nice gains, if you don't want the PI heads just find a salvage manifold and call it good, you are very unlikely to encounter this problem again, assuming the initial problem is fixed

I know that the plastic manifolds on F150's aren't immediately prone to cracking but there IS a potential without the aluminum crossover. So does anyone know when the aluminum crossover came into play with the F150's???
