Updates for 2018 are geared toward making the trucks easier to drive.

Despite being completely redesigned in 2016, Ford is giving the 2018 F-650 and F-750 some new features. These new additions may seem negligible, but Ford felt compelled to make the changes after listening to what customers had to say about the vehicles. So these features will clearly help owners get the most out of Ford’s largest trucks.

The F-650 and F-750 tractor’s list of standard equipment expands with the inclusion stability and traction control brakes to help drivers stay in control of the enormous vehicles. The system will be an optional extra on other F-750 diesel air-braked straight truck models, because of the high center of gravity that an upfit body brings with it.

F-650 and F-750 trucks equipped with the 6.8-liter gasoline V-10 engine can be fitted with an optional 240-amp alternator that is capable of providing the trucks with enough juice to power various accessories and auxiliary lights.

Trucks powered by the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine have the option of adding an automatic regeneration inhibitor that gives drivers the ability to control when the motor goes into its regeneration cycles to clean the particulate filter. Choosing when to allow the engine to do its thing, which could be between jobs, would be a major convenience for users.

The changes aren’t all mechanical, though. For those that use their F-650 or F-750 in areas with terrible drivers, Ford is offering an optional bumper extension that adds an additional three inches to the front end of the car. Drivers could essentially play bumper cars without having to worry about having to worry about replacing the front end in the unfortunate case of an accident. Lastly, the engine oil and transmission fluid dipsticks have been moved on trucks with the diesel engine to make them easier to access.

If these changes sound worthwhile for you, you’ll be happy to hear that orders for the new F-650 and F-750 can be put in this summer, with the trucks heading to dealerships later this fall.
