2018 F-150

‘Built Ford Tough’ doesn’t just apply to what’s underneath the slick new exterior of the 2018 F-150.

Ford has used the brand promise “Built Ford Tough” for decades. And it isn’t just some kind of cheesy advertising spin. Ford trucks have a legendary reputation for longevity and capability. But while that’s all we typically envision when we hear the word “tough,” Ford also wants you to know that it doesn’t just apply to the bones of the 2018 F-150. It also applies to the styling.

How is that possible, you ask? Well, in addition to looking tough, the 2018 F-150 features a number of exterior enhancements that make the truck, you guessed it, tougher. The styling updates make the new F-150 look broad and confident, conveying a sense of durability and strength. Just take one look at it, and you know that it’s capable of getting the job done. Whatever that job may be.

New 2018 Ford F-150

Redesigning a vehicle as iconic as the F-150 presents a massive challenge. How do you retain the DNA of the brand while also making it look more modern? Ford clearly pulled that off for 2018, with the addition of billet-milled visual cues and a certain boldness that isn’t overstated. Much of that expertise comes from real F-150 owners, who Ford meets with during the design process.

Just consider the 2018 F-150 the prize fighter of the truck world.
One that’s currently on a 40-plus year winning streak.

Look no further than the twin bar grille, which trickles down from the Super Duty, as a sign of visual strength. The two bars run nearly the width of the truck, accentuating its girth. The c-clamp headlights lend a muscular look around them. The chamfered nose and fenders give it a wide shouldered look, and a billet milled tailgate is the finishing touch.

So perhaps a vehicle can look just as tough as it performs, after all. Just consider the 2018 F-150 the prize fighter of the truck world. One that’s currently on a 40-plus year winning streak.
