Talented designer draws up perfect full-size Ford SUV.

Let’s face it, these days, SUVs are boring. Body on frame, truck based ‘utes have simply fallen out of favor. In their place we’ve received scores of comfortable crossovers built more for hauling the kids than hauling tail off road. We think that needs to change. But even if our pipe dream never comes true, we can simply stare at these recent sketches from talented Russian designer Aksyonov Nikita. Because his newest creation, dubbed the Ford F-150L, is exactly what we’ve been dreaming of.

The formula is so simple it’s brilliant. Take a Raptor and turn it into the ultimate off road sport utility. Nikita isn’t the first person to do this, of course. But his design is arguably the best one we’ve seen yet. The squared off rear section actually fits the truck’s lines perfectly and gives it more of an old school off road SUV look.

From the side, those wide haunches match the lines of the added cargo area perfectly. The little upswept section at the rear of the side glass adds a nice element of style as well. And the back glass even maintains the stock truck’s sliding rear window, which is kind of cool and unique. Not to mention the lights that match those on a stock Raptor’s roof.

Nikita also did up some sketches of a slammed F-150L and a police interceptor version as well. All three look pretty awesome, but we prefer the traditional Raptor rolling stock. And it’s easy to believe that Ford could easily build (and sell) such a thing. Until then, we can only enjoy these renderings and dream of conquering sandy hills in the ultimate off road SUV.
