Ford Considering Tremor Off-Road Package for F-150

Ford Authority reports that we might soon see a rock crawling F-150 Tremor option with lots of upgrades.

Unless you were abducted by aliens over the last several years, you already know that off-road trucks are hot. Thanks in part to the incredible success of the Ford F-150 Raptor, everybody wants to go out and tackle some trails. Or at least look like they can. Thus, Ford already offers up the FX4 package on every pickup it makes. Along with the Raptor-fied F-150 and Ranger (outside of the U.S.). But according to a recent report from Ford Authority, we might soon gain an additional dirt-slinging option in the form of a Tremor package for the F-150.

If you’re into the Super Duty line of heavy duty Ford pickups, that name probably sounds familiar. Ford recently unveiled the Tremor package for the F-250 and F-350, after all. Checking that box adds a host of goodies designed to turn the Super Duty into a rock crawler. It starts with a 2-inch lift up front, followed by 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires wrapped around new, unique 18-inch wheels.

Other special equipment on the Tremor Super Duty includes progressive-rate springs, 1.7-inch piston twin-tube dampers, and a locking rear differential. Along with tucked off-road running boards, extended-axle vent tubes, and the same beefy skid plates used on FX4 models. The Tremor also includes selectable driving modes including rock crawl mode and Trail Control, previously only available on the Raptor.

According to Ford Authority, a potential F-150 Tremor would take the same approach and use much of the same equipment. Whereas the Raptor is more of a high speed desert blaster, the Tremor is more of a slow speed rock crawler. Which obviously differentiates the two. And it would likely come with a lower price tag to boot, bridging the gap between the FX4 and Raptor.

As of right now, the F-150 Tremor isn’t quite a done deal. Though Ford Authority believes that Ford is already testing it with a mule disguised as a single cab Raptor. It’s also possible that if Ford decides to move forward, it might not happen until the next-gen F-150 debuts in the next 2-3 years. But regardless of whether it happens next year or years down the road, we think that the Tremor F-150 makes too much sense not to happen!
