Stolen F-150 Left at Bottom of Canal Proves to Be ‘Built Ford Tough’

F150 Harley-Davidson In Canal

Reports seem to focus on the missing Ducati that was in the truck’s bed. Screw the bike! A man’s special-edition F-150 was dumped in a canal!

In yet another news report, this time from Florida, the guy in front of the camera focuses far too much on the wrong part of the story. NBC 2 reports on a theft in Cape Coral, Florida, where a man’s F-150 was stolen and dumped in a canal a few miles from his house. The $12,000 Ducati he had in the back of his Ford truck has not been recovered. The truck was pulled from the canal the next morning. When we saw the story we thought, “bummer, poor F-150.” The thumbnail for the video is just a taillight sticking out of the water, so we weren’t too outraged about the emphasis on the bike. Then we saw the chrome letters spelling out “Harley-Davidson.”

It took a little digging (you’re welcome) but we’re pretty sure this was a 2007 Ford Harley-Davidson Edition F-150. The fender style and the wheels match the 2007 model, so unless he swapped wheels, it’s an ’07.

Blah, blah, blah, Ducati. Somebody dumped a special-edition Ford F-150 into a freakin’ canal and the reporter doesn’t even mention the year! Now, the 2007 came with the naturally aspirated 5.4L modular V8, so it’s not the most powerful/desirable H-D F-150 ever produced. However, they still hold their value, as Kelley Blue Book states a retail price of $16,874. We found few for that price in a brief search and saw many in the $17,000 to $20,000 range.

F150 and Stolen Ducati

For the non-bike people, the motorcycle appears to be a Ducati Diavel, a powerful cruiser-style bike from the Italian company better known for its superbikes.

However, despite the pricey bike being strapped to a coveted special-edition F-150, the owner said he’s “not 100% sure” he locked his truck that night.

The neighbors who talked to NBC 2 all said they’d be sure to lock their vehicles at night. Duh. Let this be a warning to us all: Lock the truck tonight, and don’t leave your flashy motorcycle strapped in the bed.

The only positive aspect of this whole incident is that the stolen F-150 looks like it took its kidnapping like a champ, emerging from its intended watery grave looking a lot better than we expected. Sure, the interior is gonna stink like a swamp for a while, but judging from the looks of it, and taking into account Ford’s “Built Tough” reputation, we’re pretty sure this F-150 is gonna be back on a Florida road sometime in the not-too-distant future.
