Prepping an F-150 for Long-Haul Towing (Video)
YouTube stars modify their trusty truck to hit the road again, and again.
The stars of the YouTube channel Keep Your Daydream have spent four seasons touring across North America in their 2013 Ford F-150 4×4 Platinum 6.2l. The truck has only needed a few simple mods to keep up with all the adventures they have planned, and increase towing capabilities.
Keep Your Daydream hosts, Marc and Tricia, have traveled for two years and 40,000 miles documenting their epic road trip. In that time they’ve put their F-150 to the test, towing their 30 foot, 9,200 pound RV, nicknamed “Ginger.” To maximize towing capacity, and give Ginger a smooth ride, they have only needed to do a handful of modifications and upgrades.
With the assistance of the tiniest hand model online, they first give us a tour of their F-150, a stellar workhorse with 100,000 miles who has served them well. The truck has only needed very basic maintenance: Oil changes, upgraded battery, and fuel pump fuse replacement.
The major changes have included extending the mirrors, changing the rear suspension. They added Firestone Ride-Rite air bags, Weather Tech mats, and a bike rack. Marc walks and talks the viewer through all these upgrades, and explains every mod thoroughly. These upgrades are both budget-friendly and fairly easy to do, or have done. A few mods have made a big difference in the long, um, haul.
