Custom Ford Raptor Gifted to Deserving Veteran
Mobility-equipped Raptor promises to make everyday life much easier for one of our nation’s real heroes.
Every year, Wounded Warriors Family Support travels across the country on what they call the High Five Tour. The crew spends months on the road in a custom mobility-equipped vehicle to accomplish a number of goals. For one, they do it to raise awareness for our nation’s heroes. And at the end of each trip, they donate their custom tour vehicle to a deserving veteran.
This year, that vehicle was this amazing Ford Raptor, sponsored by
SimpleTire. And the lucky recipient was U.S. Army veteran and three-time Purple Heart awardee Scott West. Fittingly, West was awarded his new Raptor on Veteran’s Day.
Scott is currently employed by Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, an organization of mostly volunteers who provide help to local communities following natural disasters. He’s married with a newborn son, yet he and his wife had only one vehicle prior to receiving the custom Raptor.
As a double amputee, West is the perfect candidate for this specially outfitted Raptor. The truck is equipped with two stowaway transfer seats, a wheelchair crane, and a hydraulic bed cover. The Raptor is specifically designed to make ingress and egress a seamless process for a wheelchair-bound driver.
Mobility-equipped vehicles can be rather expensive and often difficult to obtain for wounded veterans returning to the civilian world. But they’re a critical necessity for those seeking employment, life assistance, and even leisure activities after their days of service are over. And the High Five Tour giveaway is just one of the many ways WWFS helps ease that transition for so many of our nation’s heroes.
We can’t think of a more deserving individual for such a reward, nor a better organization to support. You can learn more about the High Five Tour, as well as how to get involved or donate, by heading over here.
