1977 Ford F-100 For Sale Side

Antique Ford F-100 needs an engine and someone with the time to complete the project.

This 1977 Ford F-100 comes to us from the F-150 Online forums  section of our sibling site Ford-Trucks.com and it is a project-in-progress that is in need of the right buyer to finish the build. The truck was listed for sale by FTE member Mbizzle813, who has done much of the work to restore and improve the classic half-ton pickup, but when he ran out time and money, he made the decision to list the truck for sale.

There is plenty of work to be done, but the majority of the parts needed for completion are included with the sale and for those who don’t have an engine ready to install, the OP is also selling an unbuilt engine. In other words, this post could be a one-stop-shop of sorts for someone looking to get into a partially-completed winter project.

The Introduction

When the OP first posted his 1977 Ford F-100 on FTE, he offered the following background on the project.

Ran out of money and times are tough; my loss is your gain. Pick up where I left off and finish this nearly done project.

Some scuffs in the paint but a clean body and frame
WILL NEED A WINCH/COME ALONG AND FLATBED TRAILER TO PICK UP

It is unfortunate that this Ford fan has fallen on hard times, but this is an opportunity for some other Blue Oval lover to swoop in and save this antique truck.

Remaining Work

As you can see in the images here, this 1977 F-100 is nearly complete inside and out. The grille needs to be installed, as does much of the small trim, but the body is painted and all of the key components have been bolted up. On the inside, the dash and seats appear to be complete, but the doors need to be reassembled and there is likely some wiring work to be done, once the engine has been installed.

The biggest task left with this 1977 F-100 is the drivetrain, as this roller has no engine or transmission. The listing does state that the buyer of the truck can also buy an unbuilt 351-cubic inch V8, but it seems to come with a transmission along with an array of small block engine parts.

The OP also added this crucial bit of information:

Also available if interested: partially rebuilt (disassembled and unfinished) 351M with cast iron heads. Comes with a new Lunati Voodoo Cam and Lifter Kits (Summit P/N LUN-10320701LK) If interested in the engine, YOU WILL NEED TO PICK IT UP FROM MY LOCAL MACHINE SHOP. (which I can go get with you)

In other words, if you have an engine and you have been looking for a classic Ford F-100 in which to install it, this 1977 half-ton seemingly comes with everything else needed to make a complete truck. Even if you don’t have an engine, you can buy a good engine from the seller, but that isn’t included in the $6,000 list price.

In any case, if you have been hunting for a great classic winter truck restoration project, this 1977 Ford F-100 at FTE might fit your needs.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
