Slide-out truck bed toolbox provides unique way to haul gear.

Every so often, we run across some cool gear that we think is worthy of sharing with you, loyal reader. And this giant truck bed toolbox, otherwise known as Decked, is just such a thing.

The ingenious system first caught our eye earlier this year when we spotted it being used on one of our favorite Discovery shows, Diesel Brothers (pictured). Now, we’ve seen other bed-mounted toolbox systems before, but not one that comes with a 2,000-pound payload-rated deck up top. So, unlike most of those other systems, you can actually load stuff on top of this one. Like an ATV, snowmobile or motorcycle.

And that, of course, is kind of the point of having a truck. But the Decked system’s money maker lies beneath that surface. It’s there that you’ll find a pair of full-length bed drawers that simply slide out like a file cabinet drawer. Each one is rated for 200 pounds, and unlike some truck bed toolboxes, doesn’t require climbing up in the bed to access.

A cool thing about Decked is that you don’t have to drill holes
in your truck to install it. Once assembled, it simply slides right into the bed.

The other cool thing about Decked is that you don’t have to drill holes in your truck to install it. Once assembled, it simply slides right into the bed. Which also means that it’s easily removable if you need the extra bed space. You’ll want to enlist the help of a friend, since the assembled box weighs around 200 pounds. Unless you’re just extra manly like that.

The Decked system is weatherproof, but not airtight. So in some cases, like at the car wash, water and various dust- and dirt-like particles can get in the boxes. However, the drawers are lockable, so you don’t have to worry about somebody running off with your gear. And Decked uses organizers to keep your stuff separated.

All-in-all, it’s a pretty nifty system that seems as practical as it is original and unique in design.
