BDS Project SD126 Super Duty Shines at SEMA

SEMA 2017 was filled with incredible Ford truck builds. This short wheelbase Super Duty might be the best of the bunch.

When you attend a massive show like SEMA, it’s truly a sensory overload. Hundreds of aftermarket companies are competing for your attention, and competition is fierce. That’s why the quality of custom truck builds is, quite literally, second to none. Some of which, shall we say, are more than a little over the top. But that is not the case with this gorgeous Super Duty build from BDS Suspension.

In fact, the truck called “Project SD126” is downright subdued compared to most SEMA builds. For starters, it’s not even a SuperCrew or even a SuperCab – it’s a regular cab. BDS even went so far as to shorten the wheelbase to 126″ and convert the truck to a short bed. Combined with the truck’s intimidating stance and PPG Night Metallic Orange paint, it makes quite the impression.

Under the hood lies one of our favorite powerplants, too – the 6.7-liter Powerstroke diesel. Pumping out a stout 925 lb-ft of torque in stock form, we’d say this shortened Super Duty probably moves quite well. And that’s not even taking into account the EZ LYNK AutoAgent tuner, S&B Filters cold air intake, and Diamond Eye Performance DPF-Back exhaust system.

The suspension on this souped up Super Duty consists of a BDS 4-link coilover and trailing arm conversion, Fox coilovers and bump stops, and beefy F-450 axles. The outside, of course, looks mean thanks to McNeil Racing 6″ fenders and bedsides, 20×11 Stazworks Cheyenne 8 wheels, and 42×14.50×20 BF Goodrich Baja TA KR2-S tires.

All together, BDS’ Super Duty is easily one of the nicest builds we’ve seen in a long time. It’s no wonder the truck has garnered so much attention since its debut at SEMA. Proving once again that sometimes, you don’t have to be flashy to make a statement.
