2018 Roush F-150: Up Close and Personal

By -

If a regular F-150 is too boring for you, let us introduce you to the V8 Raptor alternative from Roush.

There’s no denying that lovers of truck performance live in the best of times. If you want a snarling beast of an F-150, you’ve got more options than ever. From the factory-built Raptor to the Saleen and Shelby beasts. But now that the Roush F-150 is hitting dealerships, performance freaks have yet another option for a hi-po pickup.

Roush F-150

So when Town and Country Ford got their hands on an all-black Roush F-150, we couldn’t help but check it out. These guys run an excellent YouTube channel chock full of great information, and this latest video is no exception. Host Mitchell Watts is lucky enough to be able to grab the keys and scope it all out. But he’s also nice enough to give us a very thorough explanation of what makes the Roush F-150 so special.

Spotting a Roush is easy thanks to a unique, blacked-out grille. It kind of looks like a Raptor up front, but with proper V8 power under the hood. A special front bumper insert, vinyl hood, rear fender, and front fender stickers, fender flares, and Mickey Thompson wheels and Baja ATZ tires give the truck a unique appearance. Further making this a V8 Raptor clone is a set of Roush/Fox adjustable coilovers at all four corners.

Roush F-150

According to Watts, most Roush F-150 models sold at T&C start out as XLT Sport models. This gives them a more affordable base to start with, and one that already comes with blacked out bumpers and trim. Still, niceties like leather seats are available as an option.

One of the nicest additions to the Roush F-150, however, is a special exhaust that just sounds killer. Watts gives us a nice side-by-side between the stock and Roush pipes, and there’s simply no comparison. As of right now, Ford and Roush are working on a supercharger to seriously up the ponies, but that’s still a few weeks out.

But if you’re in the market for something a little more special than your average F-150, a Roush might be the way to go!
