With 20 you will have a harder ride and you will be slower off the line and increase distance in stopping your truck.
You will gain in the top end.
As far the stress with all the mods on your truck you should be fine. no problem
The only stress is the price for these wheels.

Yeah, if the diameter is the same performance should be the same, although handling will improve since you will have less sidewall flex. But going with wider and/or stickier tires will affect performance since you will get more traction, which requires more power to get moving. I went from 255/70/16 to 275/45/20 which resulted in 1/2in shorter diameter and 2cm wider tread I really didn't notice any loss in "performance", although peeling out takes a little more gas pedal!

20" rims....best improvement ever...
I put new 20" rims and tires on my truck a few weekends ago....
it feels like a new vehicle, the handling is great for a huge @ss truck like this........
the overall diameter of the tires is just a tad bit taller which is so small you cannot tell.......
Go with a good quality rim, some of those cast and chrome plated rims wiegh too much and you will feel a differance (negitive)
I too heard that going to 20's can screw things up, I think whoever started that rumor was smoking crack
As long as you keep the OD of the tires within a few percent of the originals, you'll never have problems....
My rims are 20x8.5, (Boyd Codington Fury's)
tires are 275/45/20's (same as Harley Trucks)

the guy that sold me my wheels said he was going to put some 23's on his 2001 silver lightning but just to drive around on, on the weekends. he said that the 20's-23's+ will put something on the tranny.
he said either pressure, strain or some type of force.
dont know if he knows what he was talking about or not.
oh well.

The only reason why 20" wheels would affect performance is if their rotational mass, combined with that of the new tire, is significantly greater than that of the stock set up. This is assuming they have nearly equal outer diamters (within 0.1% probably)
The guy who said a bigger wheel would put more stress on the transmission is a moron.

Still Looking for 20" wheels
Someone from F-150 World said someone was looking for 20" wheels. I have a set of 20" Harley Davidson Limited Edtion that are in mint condition and tires only have 3500 miles. Please email me at cbchill@yahoo.com.
