American Force and call it done. Youll have your money saved right there

I plan on doing nitto mud graps in 37x13.5r22 found them online for$19**.00

Then would just drive down to AF and get the wheels mounted

Reading that again, did you mean my truck is too nice for 10" and that it needs 12" or the other way around?

Are you really getting AFs? Whew! I can't imagine forking over for those things. What's the obsession with them and how do the justify the exponential prices?

Not a bad price for those tires though. Actually, that's really cheap.

Needs 12" wide wheels

They're polished billet wheels man, no cheap chrome plating to deal with, custom cut to order etc... plus they'll hold value. So say the set I want retails for $3,400. They go for $2,600 used all day give or take. Look at the mark up on weld wheels. Billet aluminum as well. Having AF headquarters a few blocks from campus is pretty cool too...

I do contemplate getting them done in 8 lug for super duty though as who knows what the future holds for my little green truck now, and I will run 2" spacers anyways for the stance

I thought that's what you meant after I read it the other way the first time I can't decide dammit

You getting 22x12s or 22x14s? I know polished aluminum is nicer, but isn't it also more maintenance and gotta be on your game to keep them from getting surface corrosion and whatnot? That's just an extra 75-100% on them wheels man haha.

Your truck is gonna be WIIIIDE. I like wide, but I don't know about THAT wide

Can't get past 14s and after seeing them in person its only more tempting, whats a few bearings anyways

LakeMaryKid has been running 2" spacers for a while now on his leveled truck and has no issues what so ever so why not

About the maintenance part I don't know. But after drying them and wiping them down with a clean microfiber and polish how hard can it be

No lies on those bearings! That's another strike against the 12s for me haha. I still have maybe 2 months or so before I really have to make a decision. Don't like how popular the Mavericks are, but the 970s haven't been mounted on any vehicles yet.

As long as they're taken care of properly and you have good ones, spacers are probably fine. I just know I would be constantly worrying about them, but that's my worry wort personality. I can't wait to see yours when it's done though; gonna be crazy!

Obviously I haven't owned any, just heard that bare aluminum can be a burden to keep looking nice. That's probably in a road salt environment though, which neither of us have!

Sorry Jim!

I prefer big tires over big wheels on trucks.

I can comment on the bare aluminium wheels though. Back when I used my Camaro as a daily driver I ran bare Weld Racing Draglites on it and the aluminum was a little challenging to keep clean/polished and shiny. This was in DFW/Houston area too.

I miss DD that car even with 15x3.5's on the front.

Vote much appreciate, Darren. Definitely value your opinion!

I wish the 970 spokes were black with machined edges instead of the other way around. The Mavericks have the right orientation, but I really prefer the gloss black to match all of my other black accents, and the Motos have a little more lip. I like non-straight spoke design on the 970s too. But then the 962s . . . hmm

Yeah, Erik, I'm with you on certain trucks. The 97-03s definitely look better with ~18s and a lot of rubber, but I like the 04+ with 20s. Anything behind 97 also looks best with 17s and big meats in my opinion. I'm seen a few old school trucks with new 22s and 37s and stuff like that and it don't look right.

That's pretty much what I remember hearing about the bare aluminum.

15x3.5 is like a Corolla wheel!

Oxidization was the main problem with the bare aluminium, second was water spots. You could always have them clear coated I guess.

And yes lol 15x3.5's on the front and 16x8's on the back with Mickey Thompson's. The car was so fun to drive but became a hassle to daily.

Idk what it is, I just never liked big wheels on trucks. Hell I'm so white trash I think lowered trucks look good on stock 16-17's. I do agree with you on wheel design, simple six spoke wheels look best.

There is this coating that's supposed to be like "super clear coat" that's a real good protector and some guys were saying to coat wheels in (can be used on whole car body's paint, trim, etc.) I can't remember the name of it, but that might be a good route. But if I'm paying $4k for wheels, I better not have to add anything!

22x14 962s are only like $380 a piece too.

How about on chrome wheels? Wouldn't the clear coat keep the break dust from pitting?
