BFG mud or Pro Comp Xtreme AT's???

I am getting a set of pro Comp 1079 wheels in 17x9 and cant decide on tires. I thought I was settled on the BFG mud's 285/70/17 but now Im thinking about the Pro Comp Xtreme AT's in 305/65/17. Any thoughts? I have an 06 Screw 4x4 and will be adding a 2.5" leveling kit.

For looks alone, I prefer the BFGs.

bfg m/t looks better and are supposed to be a great tire w/ around 35-40k miles. pro comp xtreme a/t i believe have a 40k mileage warranty and look pretty good too. i'd say if you're worried about mileage wear, go w/ pro comp's warranty, because i doubt there are many m/t tires out there that will get more than 40k if that.

I went with the Pro Comp Xtreme A/T's because so many people have the BFG's around here. BFG's are great tires, but I really like the Xtreme's so for.

BTW, before I added my 6" lift I had a 2.5" autospring. Pics in my gallery.

tires comparsion

I had a 97 ford explorer with 16" bfg's all terrain. they were a great tire. but now I have a 05 f150 flare side-ext cab now with pro comp Xtreme all terrain. 35x13.5x18 on maxx 6 rims with 2.5 leveling kit. They rubbed a little but I shaved one inch off the inner fender no metal cutting. I took them off for winter in PA. Alot of people have bfg's around here, so I decided to be different.

I know what you mean. Everyone in my area has BFG AT KO's, including me. However, I've had such good luck with them it's hard to consider anything else. I have 55,000 miles on mine and they still have a lot of tread left. I'm swapping mine Tuesday with my brother-in-law for an almost new (still have the mold flashings) of 315/75-16 BFG AT KO's. Couldn't pass up a good deal since I was gonna replace mine at 60,000 miles regardless.

Djh1121 that is a nice truck. I think thats the look Im looking for. I had the BFG Muds on my F250 and I did like them for a mud tire I just think the Xtreme AT's will ride better. I guess we will see.

djh1121,

so you have 18x9 rims? what is the backspacing and/or offset on them? i love that stance look you've got, i'm going for it. i plan on 20x9 rims, 33x13.5 tires. i'm thinking 20mm offset on some rims w/ tires like that. shouldn't rub should it, w/ skyjacker 3" lift? yours stick way out past the fender, i like it, didn't expect that from 9" rims.

also, how are the pro comp tires wearing?

Yes they are 18x9 with 4.75" BS. I really never rubbed with 2.5" spacer; I had to trim about an inch of the inner fender. They are wide and yes the do stick out a good bit, but I have always loved that look and that is what I wanted. The 33" Pro Comp Xtremes look a lot better in person, trust me on that one. I have people asking me all the time are those 36's or 37's... lol I just tell'em nope just 33's, but the backspacing on the rim plus the 13.50 wide tire makes them look big. They are not showing much wear at all. They ride great and are not noisy on the road, but give a nice hmmmm.

I guess that's probably about another 1/2 inch less of backspacing than i will have. I imagine if i get a wheel w/ 20mm offset that it will have around the 5.25 backspacing. yes your tires look way bigger than 33's, i like it. i thought you had 10" rims when i first saw it, i guess it's the backspacing.
