Pics of new wheels/tires & Bilstein shocks
I just got my new wheels/tires on this weekend. (Also put a set of Bilstein 5100 coilover leveling shocks on the front as well.) The truck now sits perfectly level. 40" from ground to top of fender wall both front and back.
I was having a hard time deciding between the 18x9 Moto Metal 951Bs and the 17x8 Procomp 8089s. I like to see more sidewall so I went with the Procomps (plus I was worried the tires would rub on the control arm with the 6.2" backspacing on the 951s).
The tires stick out about 1.5" which is the exact look I wanted. The do not come close to rubbing behind the wheel and clear the bottom of the fenders by about 0.75". The wheels have 4.75" of backspace and 0 offset.
I didn't think I would feel a difference in off the line pickup (meaning less) but I defintely do. I guess the wheels and tires have a lot more weight than stock. Hopefully the AEM intake and troyer tuning will offset that.
Next I have to decide whether to put the bushwacker extendafenders on or just mudflaps.

my mistake. you are correct the 17x8 (mine) have 4.5" of backspace. i would have preferred the 17x9 to get the extra inch of rim width but since they only had an extra .25" of backspace that would have meant the wheels would have stuck 2.25" instead of the 1.5" i have now. sounds like splitting hairs but i really wanted to try to keep my paint job in decent shape and i figured with the 17x8's putting the tires out 1.5" i could block the road spray with the bushwacker extendafender but if i went with the 17x9 then i'd have to get the pocket type bushwackers and i didn't really like the way those look. i also don't think i am going to go bigger than the 33's so the rims will be fine.

Before you go with the bushwacker try to find a FULL SIDE VIEW of the F150 with the flares on. I have an 04 SCREW, 6" lift, 35" tires, 17x10 wheels and bushwacker pocket style flares. The flares are sitting againt a wall in my hall way because when I put them on to test fit they made the wheels look like 33". Especially the rear flare, IMHO. I thought they would look nice because I saw a Dodge ram with them but for some reason they dont look like that on the ford, at all! And I may be wrong but isnt the extend-a-fender wider than the pocket style? To my eye they are too wide (measured top to bottom, not how far the stick out) and the bottom corners stick out too far, they dont flow into the lower edge of the truck body.
I spent over $500 including painting them ford white and they are just sitting. I ended up getting the much smaller EGR flares. I will try to post pics of both if you are interested.
