A question as I upgrade my wheels...
I have an 04 XLT 4X4 with 7 lug painted wheels. Tires are the LT245-70 R17.
I would like to purchase someones take offs with good tires and nicer alloy wheels. My question is how much larger, if any, could I go on the tire size. Also, are all 4X4wheels now 7 lug? How about 2 wd? This is new to me.

As far as the lugs, all the new F150s are 6 lug, except for those with the 8200lb GVW. They have the 7 lug. You are going to have a tougher time finding aftermarket wheels. If you do a search for the 7 lug, especially in the 04-06 forum, you will get some info on what is available.
Not sure what size tire you can go to without a leveling kit, probably somewhere around 285/70R17. Maybe a bit bigger.

I'm not aware of an optional 7 lug wheel for the 2004-2006 F150 HD payload package. I have the same truck and the wheels you have are the only 7 lug wheels Ford offered. Very few companies make or have even heard of 7 lug wheels. However, I did find one company that had a wide selection of 7 lug wheels. Go to centerlinewheels.com and do a vehicle search. Scroll down to "Ford Truck (7 lug)." There are 9 different styles to choose from. The wheels are the best looking 7 lug wheels I have found and they have a very strong 3200lb load rating per wheel. You want to go with the 17x8 wheels. If you go with 9" wide wheels they may stick out too far because the 4.5" backspacing makes the wheels stick out 1" from stock to begin with. These are the same wheels I ordered 3 weeks ago and they came out very nice. Custom drilled ROTARY FORGED billet aluminum. Made in the USA. I'm putting them on in the Spring.

Thanks for the info. Nice wheels you found. So it looks like I won't be finding any stylish take-offs to fit my truck. I probably won't invest in new wheels as it is more of a work truck than anything.
-IDEA- How about Wheelskins or Simulators? [to go over my stock rims]
I haven't seen any for the 7 lug but then I haven"t been looking.
