Post The time has come New tires. Help!

The time has come for new tires. And I need suggestions. This is what I currently have. 97 F150 Trition 5.4 with 355 rear and these are the size tires. 255/70/16 I want to go bigger of course. My truck is stock height and I plan to stay that way for now. What can I get away with and that will fit on my rims without a problem. Basically want bigger tires, wide and taller. Is this possible and which size and brand is available for me.

Thanks everyone in advanced. 40K miles on these tires and the belts are starting to dance

If you ever consider trading your set up for a 265/70 17/s let me know.
I have 1000 miles on mine and I want to go with 16in wheels so I can get 10 ply tires.

White Knight:
Have you looked at the Bridgestone Duelers AT? I have about 37k on my goodyears and getting ready to get a set. I'll be going with the 265/75/16 though. Best price I have found is $460 not including tax. They also have thme in the 285 series.

Anyone have anything to say about this tire. Good or bad, like to know before I buy.

yes my truck is a 4X4. And I am in the process of getting prices on the 285/75/16's BFG AT/S KO tires. Those look to be the best for thr truck and fills in those big wheel wells nicely. Thanks Mudder for the picture!

Thumbs up

I have to say that I have the Bridgestone Dueler AT's on my truck for about 5,000 miles now, and love them. They are great on pavement, wet/dry, do good in loose gravel, mud, and sand. I would recommend them to anyone. There is a post on aftermarket tires/wheels that I have posted more info about them. Hope this helps.

I also have the 255/70/16 Goodyears that need replacing soon. On www.discounttiredirect.com, they list a plus 0 option as 265/75/16. Is this correct? Can I use those tires without any power loss or speedo correction?

Thanks,

Jim

mudder:

That is a bad **** looking truck. What rims do you have pushing those 285s? Does yours have a body lift of any sort? Or is it a 4x4? Currently I have a 99 F150 Flareside 2WD truck with Gibson catback, and K&N Air Intake and my next venture was to do the tire / stance appearance modification but i am still debating on what to do....anyone feel free to throw your 2 since in. I do not go off roading but I want a bit more ground clearance...I will get a picture of the truck on here soon.

Thanx
RR
