OEM intake gaskets or Fel Pro

I just recently replaced the intake gaskets using a set of fel pro gaskets. One of the alignment pins on the driverside intake gasket broke off. I have diagnosed the truck due to the slightly rough idle and occassional p0174 code as a vaccum leak on the driverside. I plan on redoing the intake gaskets and checking all the vaccum lines. Should I order OEM intake gaskets or order another set of Fel Pro gaskets? what are the differences between the two besides price? I appreciate the help

Dont you think your own experience gives you strong motivation to go with the OEM? Go to Rock auto and order the Motorcraft stuff.

OEM for me. For the DD & The project.

Weird how the intake bolts do a poor alignment job.

i have been scratching my head for weeks and just noticed the gasket alignment pin is broke. It made me also realize a canned tune isnt a good choice. I am thinking of ordering oem gaskets and starting over. I have a friend that works at a ford dealership. After i get this issue fixed I am going to finish upgrading the truck. I plan on ording a new tune and regear to 4.10s. Then eventually it will be time for cams and headers. I want to make it a mild n/a build that is fun to drive daily

Betcha you can get the OEM gaskets from Rock Auto or Tasca cheaper than your friend can at the dealer.

Gaskets are in and i went back to the stock intake. truck runs awesome. I have a couple rusty injectors from the rat urine. I'm ordering tunes from 5 star soon and swapping the intake at the same time. Should i buy stock injectors or go aftermarket? I'm just going to replace all 8

All the Motorcraft injectors you are gonna find at a reputable vendor should be updated.

Yikes. Guess this isn't going to be a cheap fix for all 8. I don't want to just replace the few rusty ones, rather do the set.

I would just replace them that are bad or go over to e-bay and look for re manufactured. 2004 5.4-3v is kind of a off year. I think ford changed suppliers or the supplier change the injector. The 2005 injectors are prone to failing. There is an extended warrenty in effect for injectors on the 2005 MY but it does not cover 2004 so they must be different. I think 2004 MY is unique. Could be injectors for 2006+ will work..

Wow - OEM's are expensive! I'd look for some quality remans. I was thinking 35 bucks each for OEM, not $95.

Yep, they are unique - 2004 only. Your profile says 2005, that's what I was going on. You really need to put details in your first post when you start a thread.
