2000 F150 5.4 - Whole engine cuts out at random for a few revs

ive got a 2000 f150 with 180-190k miles on it, and weve beaten the hell out of it over the years.

in the last week or so, the entire engine will just cut flat out for a rev or two. its exactly like a regular missfire, but its the entire motor. its more pronounced when its cold, and for a while it went away once it warmed up. but now its starting to do it a bit when its warm too.

Codes - P0301 and something else. its an EGR code, i know that much.
i know cyl 1 has a miss fire since the intake leaks there. and im pretty sure the egr code is from cracking a vacuum line when the intake was replaced (damn new intake started leaking like a week after it was replaced)

Plugs and coils were replaced about 4 months ago when the intake was replaced for the first time. OEM plugs went back in, and Accel coils were put in. the trucks ran great up until cyl 1 started miss firing a few months ago, but ive lived with intermittent miss fires for years (intake had been leaking for like 2-3 years. i think i was running on about 5 cyl. when it was at its worst) but ive never experienced a whole motor cut out like this before.

Could be the Accel coils. Should have used Motorcraft or Visteon.

p0401 isnt causing the cut out issue most likely. That is DPFE loose/blocked downstream hose. Swap the coil on #1 with another cylinder see if the miss moves.

P0401 is insufficient flow - usually caused by clogged EGR passages in the throttle body.

it wont move, cyl 1 is just always wet right now with the leaking intake.

You need to fix the intake first.
