got to ebay and look up global automotive or uneek supply (i think that's what they are called) less than 100 bucks will get you eight brand new, nothing wrong with them.

a low grade misfire will not always throw a code.

You don't have coil packs lol. Well, -If your running a COP system , - get your coils on ebay, like chief suggests.

Sometimes the pcm will store the code for awhile. I'd get the codes read anywhay there probably on there. I'd also do like was suggested and get the E-bay coils and replaced them all for the price of one. Save the old ones in case you ever have one fail..

I took the advice of the guys on here and bought the cops from Global. I will actually be installing them today. I had the same problem on my 4.6. I have replaced 3 in the last year and had a fourth go out on me last week. I sick of paying $250 a piece for parts and labor at the mechanics shop. It hasn't been so bad so far, although I'm replacing the inake manifold gaskets, so there is a lot of crap out of the way. Sure can't beat the cost if all goes well that's for sure. Best of luck to you. One question i have is can you tell which coil/coils are good or bad when they are off the truck?

I think if they aren't bad, a code might not appear. Mine wasn't terrible and wasn't consistant through rpm's= no code, but my old lady's Explorer was horrible and threw me a code while driving. OBD 2 scanner never picked up on it before for some reason.

Coil Pack

Humm i reminded of when we bought my moms 93 Grand Marquis, Paid 300 bucks. "needs a transmission". Got it home and took a good look around. Coil pack on the drivers side was dead, Replaced both, alonwith plugs and wires. Number one cly must have been dead for some time, i couldnt even see the tip of the electode it was gunked up with all sorts of deposits. Started it up and smoked like a train for a min but ran smooth as slik. And for safe measure dropped the trans pan and put a filter in and she drives just fine. She still drives it everyday. Had no engine light on. But i do suppose that is OBD1. Owell moral here, diogoinse before you condem something.

Global Automotive... Thank You for that Christmas present. I have almost 100,000 on mine and I'm sure they'll need to be replaced soon.
