I had a weird idea today...

im thinking...

when my truck hits about 200k miles...

i want to just drop in a new engine. so i will have a paid off truck.

but here is my idea: get a restored 351, or a crate 350.

this wouldnt happen anytime soon, probably 5 years from now, but when i do it, compartment restraints may not be an issue, money pending.

would this be a cool idea, would it fit, blah blah blah?

give me some input guys, im REALLY excited to do this if i can

uh why a crate 350?? that would be stupid. I would stick to a modular engine, do a lightning swap or something, unless you want to deal with the headaches of all the wiring of a 351...

well I dont know, check ebay, but in 5 years, i doubt you will find a stock one. You should build a 5.4 Like I did if you want around 600hp

Here the best thing to do if/when your truck hits 200K, keep running it into the ground or get rid of it and buy another. sinking money into a truck with that higher mileage is a waste. not only is the engine worn out, but so is the trans, suspension, steering and interior etc.

and a new transmission, 4.2 has a different bellhousing compared to the 4.6/5.4 also it would need all the electronics. swapping from a 4.6 to a 5.4 is one thing but from a 4.2 to a 5.4 is a totally different animal.

x2. By the time you get 200K on a truck its usually just a peice of cr@p and you will just be replacing stuff left and right.

I wouldnt want a 350 in a truck that new either. A nice mod motor like Built suggested/is doing is soooo much better if you ask me.

Man what do you know?! 200,000 is just getting broke in good. If mine doesn't last to 300-350, I'm gonna be pissed.
