Radiator Leaking due to Troyer Fans
Well, that says it all. One of the long pin things that go through the fins looks like it finally rubed a hole in the radiator tube and started a pretty good, undriveable leak. And I don't like the idea of pouring in a bottle of "stop leak". So the radiator is out and off to a shop I guess and try and weld it up. Heck, may even try throwing some JBWeld on it if it's too expensive. Wonder how long it will be before the next one rubs through???????????????????? The thing that sucks is I figure I need to remove both fans to get it fixed and I don't have any pins to put the fans back on afterwards. Can you buy those anywhere????

HI!... The DERALE fans come with long copper rods to mount the fans. Hate to say it but I'm surprised you used the copper rods. It's been discussed on here for about 8 years to NOT run the copper rods that come with the DERALE fans. They WILL eventually wear holes in the rad tubes. I found out this the hard way twice, and had to replace two rads at almost $500(CAN) each. DERALE sells the plastic rods and foam washers to prevent this. Why DERALE doesn't include these with their kits, I don't know.

In the mean time, dump a bottle of "bar's stop leak". The kind in the GRAY bottle, you can get at truck stops. It is the best stuff in the world. It WILL stop your leak until you can get a new radiator. I've never seen it not work. Except on really big holes. It looks like runny dookey, but it works awesome.

HI!... It's not really the fact that they wiggle through. Since I switched to the plastic rods, I have had *ZERO* problems. The rad shows NO WEAR at all where the plastic rods went through. The key is the foam pads. That act like a spring and keep tension on the rods/fans at all times. Most people don;t pull the rods tight enough causing them to wiggle around and cause damage. The problem with the copper rods is electrolysis, plus not tightening them up enough. I agree that a outside mount for the fans is better but the plastic rod method works and works well if it is done properly.
