Engine Vin Number-original Or Rebuilt?

ive had my truck about 2.5 years. its a 2000 f150 with the 5.4L engine. does anyone know where i can look up the vin or part number on the engine, to get any information on it? the number on the drivers side valve cover reads 0G876AA..I am wondering if there is a way i can tell if this engine is the original or rebuilt. so if anybody knows how i can find out please let me know. my odometer reads a little over 130K. and this motor seems to be just too perfect--no leaks, no noises, decent on gas, does not burn oil. any info would be good.

i just got to thinking....if i do a vehicle history report, should this show up on there, assuming the motor is a rebuilt?

thanks everyone

A way to know if you have a reman crate motor is they put a overheat pop out tab on a freeze plug. It will be a round quarter size with a blue dot in the center.

Go from the underside. Use lights and a mirror. Most of the ones I've seen were on the passenger side.

the vehicle vin number should be on a bar coded sticker on the driver side cam cover.. but that is not a garantee the engine is original. Just one step in checking.

I am suspicious of my motor too. Same symptoms, no leaks, no noises, doesn't burn oil.

Even though I bought the truck new and it hasn't been out of my possession these last 8 years, that doesn't mean that someone from Ford didn't slip something in my drink, knock me out and replace my motor.

I wouldn't put it past those dirty rats.

i am aware of where the vehicle vin number is. just like you stated. i havent really even looked at it. will this vin sticker that you are talking about on the drivers door, show the vin of the original engine that was in the truck?

and still does anyone know if a vehicle history report will show if my truck has had another engine installed in it? as far as i know, the history reports will show a history of accidents the vehicle has been involved in. but i have never done a vehicle history report..

Yeah it should if it was done by a dealer for sure. Your dealer may even be able to look it up for you too, Ford has a network to keep track of what has been done to a vehicle. Mine has had the domelight and a horn fixed under warrenty by a previous owner. I wouldn't feel too bad about yours, mine is the same way, it runs great, doesn't leak and gets 19sish MPG on the highway. The media would like you to think Ford only makes leaking POS's, they don't. If your motor was put in by a private shop or in someones backyard it probably won't be on the network though.

No, the '99 is sitting at 99,000.

At eight years old it still has the factory battery.
I haven't even had to change a lightbulb yet.

I just replaced my OEM battery this fall - It was cranking just a little slow and I wanted to do it before the weather got too cold.

Go to www.flatratetech.com then go to forums, under forums go to OASIS REPORT. Give them your VIN# and they will give you a report in a couple of days on what Ford has done.
