horrible idle

'02 5.4L

i was going to clean my throttle body a couple weeks ago and discovered the rubber connector that connectors my aftermarket intake tube to the throttle body had split. i continued to pull the throttle body, cleaned everything (IAC, TB, EGR). i then put everything back right and fixed the connector from my intake. when i started the truck, it would not idle. this has been a few weeks and the truck still has idling trouble. it struggles until the slightest amount of heat is shown on the temp guage. the engine has a weak fire, especially upon cold start ups below 50*. truck ran great until i cleaned the TB.

possible vacuum leak? did i foul my IAC? wut can i do to pinpoint a vacuum leak? it really only gives me trouble when it is below 50*.

You prolly forgot to plug the connector in the back in. Follow your PVC line to where it disappears behind the motor. You'll have to follow it by hand because you can't see it..Make sure it's plugged in . Also - is your IAC plugged in? Mine has 200K on it lol - but everytime I clean it I make sure I work the spring/mechanism by hand with a small pair of needlenosers. I little chunk of carbon gets in the right spot - it will stick it..Also use WD40 and force it in w/compressed air..

If everything looks to be hookedup ok, you should look at the readings on your IAC. I have had luck cleaning IAC and sometimes it makes them worse. Do you have any check engine codes?

i think the ripped intake connector tripped a code and i havent had it cleared since, so i really have no idea if the IAC cleaning tripped a new code. guess i should get those read.

i checked and rechecked everything before finishing the project. everything is how i found it before i did the cleaning. i may get back under the hood after class tonight.
