I myself have the 5.4 so I started with 40 more hp's, there lies a big chunk, but I've noticed that a chip helps pretty good, if nothing else, firms the shifting up nice. A K&N works good, but really only because you never have to replace. A exhaust system adds, but very minimal, just makes you sound faster. There are little things here and there, but really, a supercharger is the way to quit screwing around and lay down some power. Unless you're willing to spend huge you have to settle for minimal gains that eventually add up. E-fans will be on the more noticed side in many ways, performance and gas mileage, colder A/C.

The 4.6 engine is built for torque in the truck. It is not a quick engine in the truck but you can get a little more out of it, but power cost money. If money is no object a turbo or supercharger would solve all your power problems. The 4.6 is an very durable engine. I sold a 97 farm truck that had 290K on it last winter - it gave great service and had no drivetrain issues (the interior was shot and the body was beat to hell).

Camarothatcould, this isn't a ford bashing web site, this is a ford truck enthusiast's web site. Please take your anti-Ford rhetoric elsewhere.
As for the original poster's questions, if you search a bit, you'll find that the trifecta of power enhancing bolt-ons are intake, exhaust, and a tuner. The next steps beyond that (not in any particular order) are electric fans, underdrive pulleys, regearing the rear end, nitrous, blowers, etc. Just depends how much money you have to spend.
Good luck!!

I bought it used 76k miles, all dodges were full size v8 except the durango's there not a truck. I think maybe that it just sat at the dealer to long because tonight it at least broke the tires loose from a stop. Maybe it just needed to learn how to drive again. but i will deffently want more.
